Striker Afonso Alves keen to move on after seven-goal spree

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Brazilian international Afonso Alves underlined his scoring credentials when he hit seven goals for Heerenveen on Sunday to set a Dutch first division record.

The striker, who wants to join a more high-profile club, hopes his effort in a 9-0 thrashing of Heracles Almelo would have been noted by some of Europe's elite.

"I needed to score to find my form again, so now I can focus on the future with confidence," Alves told RTL4 television.

The 26-year-old striker registered a hat-trick between the 10th and 18th minutes and added four more goals within nine minutes in the second half.

Alves had hoped his status as top scorer, with 34 goals, in the Dutch league last season would attract interest from the more glamorous clubs in the continent.

But Heerenveen frustrated the striker by setting the asking price too high. He now hopes his exploits against Heracles will give him the chance to find a club more to his liking during January's transfer window.
