Assuncao leaves Betis

Betis and Brazilian midfielder Marcos Assuncao have agreed to a mutual termination of the player's contract.

The free-kick specialist was one of the big earners at the club and it is believed that Hector Cuper wanted him off the wage bill.

The former Roma man spent five years with the Sevilla side, and said that his love for the club will see him seek a new club outside of Spain.

"I don't have any plans at this exact moment. We'll decide in the next few days what I'm going to do, but I'd prefer to leave Spain as I would hate to play against Betis," he said.

"I will always have the fans in my heart, even when I move back to Brazil, they will be with me."
The 31-year-old made over 150 appearances for Betis and has been capped 11 times by Brazil.
