Madrid, Spain - Real Madrid midfielder Emerson, a Brazilian, is returning to the Italian Serie A with AC Milan.
Emerson, 31, played for Real last season but has spent most of his career in the Serie A. Terms of the deal were not released.
He previously played for Roma and Juventus in Italy.
The Italian season starts Aug. 25. AC Milan, which won the Champions League, last year, plays its first game at Genoa on Aug. 26.
The Spanish La Liga also starts on Aug. 25. Real hosts Atletico Madrid in its season opener.
