Brazilian Top Scorer Set To Stay

Top scoring Brazilian striker Josiel is slated to remain at current club Paraná Clube as the transfer window gets ready to slam shut at the end of the month. The Brazilian management hasn’t been sufficiently impressed by offers so far and prefer to wait for a suitably succulent offer…

Durval Lara Ribeiro has confirmed that he expects to keep 27 year-old Josiel, top scorer so far in the Brasileirão (Brazilian First Division), at the southern Brazilian club as the rumours of Russian offers have so far failed to materialise into anything concrete.

“We haven’t yet seen any official document containing a proposal from any buying club. We want him to focus on playing here for now until we have a proposal to study and pass on to the player as well”, explained the exec.

Josiel da Rocha has now gone five games without scoring, some saying that the lure of a move to Europe has resulted in his mind prematurely wandering from Brazil. The grapevine has said that a $2 million offer may be forthcoming, but the club wants at least double.

Dynamo Kiev and Olympique Marseille have both been linked with a move to sign the player although neither club has confirmed making an offer. With the Brasileirão 2007 ending in December, Josiel should remain in Brazil until the European winter transfer window opens.
